Inspired by the world of action cinema and the figure of the stuntwoman, *Machine à spectacle* explores the behind-the-scenes reality of risk, the illusion of the spectacular, and the crafting of virtuosity. The piece unfolds from a “broken” dance, a blockbuster dance, or, conversely, a movement language of everything that lies off-screen: the double, anonymity, waiting, and the almost-nothing. On stage, the technical apparatus becomes a partner: ropes, cables, metal structures, and hidden winches extend the movements in a choreography that straddles the living and the inanimate. The stage becomes a mechanism of bodies and metal, a precise chain of actions where tension seeps into every cog. By deploying a subtle mechanics of lights and effects, the choreographer questions our fascination with the spectacle of risk, that unstable threshold where fiction and reality merge.
As a choreographer and dancer, Solène Wachter explores space, presence, and the role of the audience in her works. Since 2018, she has collaborated with Boris Charmatz (10,000 Gestes) and other choreographers such as Ashley Chen, Maud Le Pladec, and Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker. In 2019, she co-founded the Bleu Printemps platform at the Ménagerie de Verre to promote collective choreographic research. Through her workshops, her work with the platform, and her commitment to scenic innovation, Solène Wachter affirms a militant vision of performance: a living, collaborative, and reflective theater that transforms movement into engaged thought.
