RODA seeks to take stock of a festive revolt.
RODA explores the physical state of adolescence.
RODA is a collective, circular, and continuous movement that resembles a procession.
With RODA, from the Latin rotāre, meaning “to move in a circle,” Aina Alegre explores adolescence as a physical state—a power to be reawakened, made up of momentum, rebellion, euphoria, and upheaval. On stage, the eight dancers and five musicians come together and push themselves to the point of exhilaration, carried by music inspired by Mediterranean fanfares, marching bands, and the “second lines” of New Orleans. At the heart of the piece: the image of the wheel, the movement of circularity and rotation, as the driving forces behind a dance that seeks to connect us to one another, to come together as a group, and to push the boundaries. An invitation to rediscover that adolescent feeling that anything is still possible and to celebrate collective momentum and the cycles of life.
