Aina Alegre draws on the dance and energy of the bailaora Carmen Amaya in a free interpretation. This artist led a varied life, from the Romani quarter of Barcelona to Hollywood, from the World’s Fair to the White House, from the tradition of flamenco to Ravel’s Boléro. This spirit permeates the bodies, sound and light of this new piece by Aina Alegre. Drawing on this heritage, which they reinterpret, the dancers take to the floor, propelling themselves through the electrifying space and channelling the energy of this iconic figure through their own breathtaking dance!
