Following several research workshops held in the United States between 2024 and 2026, Aina Alegre presents *AT DAWN* as part of the International Dance Festival New Orleans. This performance is part of the research process for her next major group piece, *RODA*, which will premiere on April 28 and 29, 2027, at the MC2: Grenoble.
Inspired by her explorations in New Orleans, where she interacted with musicians and dancers from local communities, Aina Alegre is interested in the role of music and dance in community life. Music is omnipresent, inhabiting public spaces and transforming them into places of artistic expression, social connection, and healing. At the heart of this approach, Aina Alegre observes and draws inspiration from events such as Second Lines—the popular processions that accompany the parades and processions of brass bands in New Orleans, embodying the convergence of memory, celebration, resistance, and emancipation.
Combining festive energy with political significance, AT DAWN unveils the first glimpses of a work that explores dance and music as forces of joyful protest and collective transformation.
