With support from L'Estruch (Sabadell), La Caldera (Barcelona), the Paraíso residencies of the RPM collective (Galicia), Foc (Barcelona), MC2: Maison de la Culture de Grenoble—Scène nationale, and the National Choreographic Center of Grenoble. In addition, the project was part of the 2025 edition of Si No Vols Pols No Vinguis a l'Era (Mieres) and received a Barcelona Crea 2025 grant from the City of Barcelona. Aplauso, vicio is a co-production of the Sâlmon Festival 2025–2026 (Barcelona). In 2026, the piece will participate in sessions of the DAS Theater Feedback Method in collaboration with Antic Teatre (Barcelona).

*Aplauso, vicio* is an opera in three acts—mouth, curtain, song—that explores the mechanisms of the operatic genre through a play on defocusing and reinventing classical references. This project explores the processes of repertoire transformation through a performative and contemporary approach. A distillation of the theatrical machine, where emptiness, pause, and artisanal production enchant one another.
Led by Élise Moreau and Noela Covelo Velasco, this first collaborative production approaches the repertoire as material to be transformed. Straddling the line between heritage and reinvention, *Aplauso, vicio* opens up a space for reflection on the forms of performance and the imaginaries that the stage can produce today.
Élise Moreau
A dancer, choreographer, and teacher, Elise Moreau has lived and worked in Barcelona since 2017. Trained in France and Belgium (a graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp), she began her career as a performer for Romeo Castellucci, Dominique Boivin, and Jaco Van Dormael. She then co-founded the collective Iniciativa Sexual Femenina, which promotes libertarian and feminist perspectives, and joined Makrâl, a Franco-Belgian collective that explores collective memory in rural areas. She is a certified dance movement therapist from Université Paris Cité. Her work is rooted in an artisanal, accessible, and demystifying performative practice, dedicated to an intimate exploration that challenges, entertains, and provokes.
She has lived and worked in Barcelona since 2012. Her work centers on sound and spatial composition, performance, and collective processes. She recently exhibited at Generaciones 2025 at La Casa Encendida (Madrid) and at MARCO (Vigo), and has presented performances at Jauna Muzika (Vilnius, 2025), La Capella (Barcelona, 2024), and at CA2M (Madrid, 2023). She holds a master’s degree in sound art and a bachelor’s degree in design, with a specialization in fashion. She is a member of Espaço Foc (Barcelona) and is a co-founder of c h o r o, a space dedicated to educational experimentation based at Foc.
